Create beautiful portraits of you and your loved ones to enjoy for a lifetime.
There is no need for you to travel to a photography studio. We bring our studio to your home to capture your beautiful family portraits.
Our Heart Breaks When We See People:
✖ Feeling Unhappy
and self conscious in front of a camera
✖ Making do with Snaps
on their phone that are here today and forgotten tomorrow
✖ Worrying that they will not
have a group portrait to enjoy in years to come
✖ Believing they Never
could get their family to a studio looking their best
Getting beautiful portraits should be simple. You should feel great, and be relaxed, knowing you will have portraits you will enjoy for a lifetime.
We can show you how.
Photographer Peter Nutkins Helps You
We have four children, and understand how important it is to have a family portrait, for us all to enjoy, and remind us of how we have all changed over the years. This is why I started as a photographer in the first place.
We know what it is like to feel self conscious in front of a camera, feel stressed organising toddlers who are not in the mood, and be under pressure as your session only lasts 30 minutes, and you want something other than a CD of digital images!
That is why we are different.
We have helped families across the UK capture beautiful portraits in the comfort of their own home:
✔ There is no time constraint (we only work with one client per day)
✔ Your toddler can take naps
✔ Your make-up and clothes are all to hand
✔ Your pets can take part, as can wider family and friends
✔ You enjoy museum quality prints, wall art and books
How It Works
Find Out More About Our Family Portrait Photography
At Peter Nutkins Photography we know you are the kind of person who values reliving beautiful memories of your loved ones over and over again. You know that investing a little now in creating quality portraits with a professional photographer will provide many hours of enjoyment for generations to come.
The problem is that you are a busy person. Work and home life take over, and before you know it your family has all grown up and the moment has passed.
You need someone who can help. Someone who will work around your lifestyle, your family, and your pressures. A portrait photographer who knows how to make you feel and look special, cope with toddlers, pets and uncle Joe, all within your own home. Someone who will turn an ordinary photo into a wonderful painterly portrait that makes you say “Wow”!
Here is how it works in detail
Step 1: Schedule a call
I invite you to have a complimentary consultation with me so that you can share a little about your loved ones and the kind of memories that you want to capture. You will have all of your questions answered.
If you feel I am the photographer for you, I’ll be happy to help you select a date for your big day!
A few days before your photoshoot I will come and visit you. Usually it is held at your home and lasts less than an hour. This gives you the opportunity to meet me and discuss in more detail how we can make the most of your photoshoot.
Step 2: Studio At Home
Your Photoshoot Session takes place in your home at your convenience. I limit my bookings to a maximum of one portrait session per day, so we can use as much or as little of the day as we need. I’m not going to keep you any longer than you need to be (I know you’re busy), but we also don’t need to rush because someone else is booked in straight after you.
Every family is unique, and I am the portrait photographer that customises every session so that your photography experience is focussed on you and not on a ‘one size fits all’ approach.
We do not charge by the hour. We only do one shoot per day so we work around your schedule. We have only one simple sitting fee no matter where you live in mainland UK.
Being surrounded by your everyday comforts makes you more relaxed for your family portrait session. You have your complete wardrobe on hand, your children have their favourite toys, your pets are available, and everyone can come and go as required. One of the biggest advantages, if you have younger children, is that their nap and feeding times remain the same, and all take place in familiar surroundings.
Many families invite their extended family and friends along too!
With a photographer in the house, all are welcome to join in and have their photograph taken!
As a Master Portrait Photographer I know how to show you off at your very best and capture the spirit of your loved ones, their personalities, the connection between them and the love that binds you all together.
Step 3: Enjoy
Once your portrait photography has been taken I head home and get working on your final portraits. Being a photographer is only half of the job. I use the raw ingredients I capture during your photoshoot to create your artwork.
My signature artistic style is 'painterly'. Your final portraits, once printed, will look remarkably like paintings.
I pick around 20-30 of the best portraits that meet your expectations, as discussed in your Discovery Session. Each photograph is hand edited by myself to the same high quality standard. Your portraits can be in colour or black and white, dramatic or subtle, playful or serious, relaxed or arty, or all of the above!
Once I have finished working on your family portraits I come back to reveal them to you! This is my favourite part of being a family portrait photographer as I see your emotions as you look through your portraits.
There is no hard sell. I simply create portraits that you will find hard to resist!
We use special cotton rag paper and colour pigments to ensure that your pictures will look as vibrant in 100 years as they did the day you received them.
Imagine your children, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren discovering your portraits for the first time. Each of them holding their breath in wonder as they see your personality and character shining through every image. You looking your very best, and feeling it too.
Photographs are meant to be seen and enjoyed by all, so we have a full range of wall art, including framed prints, canvas wraps, metal prints, and more.
We also offer fine art story books as an elegant and stylish way to display and keep your photos.

South West Portrait Photographer
We are based in the beautiful South West of England where we have lived on and off over the last fifty years.
We serve the whole Devon, Somerset and Cornwall area which is on our doorstep. However, the majority of our clients come from cities, towns and villages all over the UK, from London to Scotland.
For clients within mainland UK our charges include transport. For both business and family clients we operate a flat sitting fee regardless of where they live. This includes London within the congestion charging zone. For Northern Ireland we only ask for the cost of the ferry!
For our international clients we do make a charge for both transport and accommodation. This will be agreed with you beforehand and will be 'at cost'. Where International travel is subject to national government restrictions we will do our best to keep you updated as the situation changes.
Our highest priority is your well being - both physically preventing you becoming ill, and also in preventing worry and putting your mind at rest.
We have taken steps to protect our clients and ourselves from Corona Virus / Covid 19. Following advice from Government, and various Professional Photographer Bodies, these are the measures we are taking to ensure your safety during your photoshoot at this difficult time:
✔ Peter and Karen have had both stages of the vaccine
✔ Already we only shoot one family per day and we will keep it this way
✔ All equipment and samples are cleaned / sanitised before your photoshoot
✔ We will continue to remove our shoes in your home
✔ For those who prefer to be outdoors we can bring our gazebo studio!
✔ I will check the day before your shoot if you are experiencing any symptoms of being unwell, or if anyone attending has been in contact with anyone else displaying symptoms - in either case we will reschedule your appointment
✔ If you have any concerns, or would like additional information, please get in contact.
Please note that these measures may need to be varied due to changes in local or national restrictions.
